For general download speeds, Spectrum offers 3-speed levels to its customers. These speed tiers include the download speed of up to 200 Mbps, up to 400 Mbps, and up to 940 Mbps. On the other hand, Verizon offers a variety of plans with speeds through DSL and fiber. The fiber tiers offer download speeds of up to 200 Mbps, up to 400 Mbps, and up to 940 Mbps. However, in the areas where DSL is available, the speeds are slower. So, when it comes to the variety of plans and options, it is clear that no one has the lead but since Verizon is FIOS, the speeds are usually what customers sign up for and there are hardly any speed reductions.

When it comes to the pricing, there is a price difference of a few bucks between the prices unless you are going for the Gig plan. With Spectrum, the download speed of up to 200 Mbps costs $49.99 per month, Internet Ultra with the 400 Mbps costs $69.99, and the Gig plan costs $109.99 per month. In some areas, Spectrum does offer speeds of up to 100 and 300 Mbps but the cost the same as the internet 200, and internet 400.
Contrarily, Verizon offers a download speed of up to 200 Mbps for $39.99 per month. Internet 400 costs 59.99 per month, and the internet Gig costs $79.99.
If we compare these prices, Verizon seems to be on top but there is one important thing that is being missed here. Verizon charges extra for the internet modem while the modem with Spectrum comes for free. Moreover, Spectrum also offers access to WiFi hotspots and free anti-virus software along with unlimited data. So, if you consider all these additional perks, Spectrum is not a bad deal either.
- Service Availability
Service Availability is a very important factor that can be the biggest turn-off as well. The reason being, if there are no services available in the area, it is not going to matter how good the provider is or how much it costs.
Spectrum is America’s second-largest cable internet service provider that offers high-speed internet services along with cable TV, and home phone in more than 41 states. On the other hand, Verizon Fios is available in 10 states including names such as New York, Maryland, Delaware, and some others. Although the network is being expanded still it is not possible to compete with the coverage area of Spectrum as it is available in a bigger part of the country.
So, if we look at both of these service providers, looks like Spectrum wins big time.
