Arthur the King was released on March 15 and is being shown exclusively in theaters. As reported by Screen Rant, the story of Arthur inspired the creation of the Arthur Foundation in 2017, which seeks to further the cause of better care for dogs worldwide. The foundation has helped garner support for passing the LOBA law in Ecuador (Ley Organica de Bienestar Animal or Organic Law of Animal Welfare), which entered into effect in April 2018.

Synopsis

Mikael Lindnord is the real deal and the film then goes on to establish that fact, rendering him instead as Michael Light and interpreting him by Mark Wahlberg. He has previously faced mythical problems when it comes to compromising with the team. Deciding to dive back into the sport, at this point, he recruits his four other team members astounding climber, a social media-savvy athlete, and an experienced racer with a really bad knee.

In the race, Michael becomes friends with a stray dog, which we have seen struggling to find some food and shelter earlier. A few meatballs make him realize that everything is different for the stray; it might probably turn Michael’s mind to a selfless vision with a dedication to himself and the team. He names the dog Arthur just because of his regal bearing. Arthur starts to follow the team across perilous land and even saves their lives one night after they walk inadvertently into danger. Though starved and has some serious wounds, Arthur assists the team as they travel the 430-mile race.

Review

Watching the exhilarating drama unfold as the team makes its way through tricky terrain and breathtaking scenery of the Dominican Republic keeps the audience enthralled, something the racers themselves had no opportunity to do since all their consciousness and energy was consumed with surviving and finishing the race on time.

Before the credits roll, pictures are shown of the real people involved with this incredibly inspiring story. The real Arthur, who inspired the whole film, sadly passed away in 2020 following a malignant tumor diagnosis. Ultimately, this leaves the movie dedicated to him and the effect of his life in rallying a team through some of the toughest parts of an adventure race.

It is not every day that I leave a movie theatre with my heart fuller than when I entered. Yet, Arthur the King is one such film that indeed did and lifted every emotion along the way.

Dog movies immediately tug at the heartstrings, and they know it, yet we never fail to bite. If you died an unwitting death (like me) in the emotional meat grinder early on in Marley & Me and are now almost-trust issues quite unhealed from it, this is being said to very well allow you to set your heart at ease: such a tragedy is not in the cards.
